NAIDOC week
NAIDOC week is the 8-15 November this year and this is an opportunity to recognise that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years, and they are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. It is an opportunity to stop and reflect on history as we know it, and have learned and contrast them to the reality of indigenous oral stories that share experience and life that is over 65,000 years!
As a community we have spoken a lot about the importance of our own stories and culture and if we are really going to live this out as an expression of our faith. I wonder how you and I are going to engage with an indigenous story, that is so different to our many varied stories?
I believe the small steps we take to notice God in our midst and notice God in the lives of others, especially our indigenous brothers and sisters calls us to become something different – a people shaped by love, a people who take love seriously and people who believe the center of the Christian life is the LOVE of God revealed in Jesus Christ!!
This love holds all of our stories together.
A word of Hope for you this weekend!
Blessings
Andrew
